ROBSON DISAPPOINTED BY WALCOTT

Former Manchester United captain Bryan Robson has said that he is extremely sad is that the fact that Arsenal winger Theo Walcott is failing to sign a new contract with the club, according to the Arsenal News website.

The former Manchester United captain has also called Theo Walcott as just an athlete with access to a pair of football boots. It comes as a stern criticism for the 23-year-old England winger, who was signed by Arsene Wenger for just £ 12 million a few seasons ago. Arsenal value him at around £ 20 million, but it is highly unlikely that they will be able to fetch the same in this transfer window.

Theo Walcott will be able to negotiate with another club after just six months according to the FIFA regulations. He can be signed for the free transfer, which will be a massive boost for his future club given his age and the fact that he his home-grown. Chelsea are reported to be the front-runners to secure his signature, as they look to desperately bring down the age of their squad. They have already released Didier Drogba from his contract, while José Bosingwa will be the next to follow. Players like Paulo Ferreira are also told that there will have no part to play in the squad next season.

“It wouldn’t worry me if Theo Walcott were to leave tomorrow. Theo Walcott, for me, is not a good footballer. He is an athlete who puts on a pair of football boots. He is quick, he is fast, but when he was younger he should have been taught how to be better technically, how to find space, how to find awareness. He has never done that and he is a liability when he is defending. For Theo Walcott to want more money, I would let him go,” said Robson.
