Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has been one of the standout players in the Premier league this season. He has already scored more number of goals than he did in his Arsenal career over the last few years. This has led to plaudits from various quarters and even from his teammates. Winger Theo Walcott said that Ramsey is finally showing his true potential and it has taken him a long time to recover fully from injury. The Wales international suffered a broken leg while playing against Stoke city a few years ago. He suffered his injury under the challenge from Ryan Shawcross.
Prior to injury, he was regarded as one of the talented youngsters in the squad. The injury took the edge out of his game, but he appears to be finally fulfilling his potential. Walcott has attributed this fact to the longer time it takes to recover from a serious injury. He has said that Ramsey has been a totally different player in training and it has been looking like a new signing for the club. Arsenal have been heavily criticised for the lack of big-money signings, but they eventually brought in Mesut Ozil for £ 42 million on the transfer deadline day.
Arsenal have made a great start to the league season despite losing the opening game 3-1 to Aston Villa.
“It always takes time when you have injuries. He’s enjoying his football and it’s going to be difficult to get him off the football pitch, I’m pretty sure of that. He loves touching the ball and he’s got something different to his game now which is goals. People would say they would criticise that side of it [in the past] but I see him in training every day and he’s looking a totally different player,” said Walcott about the current sensation Ramsey.
