James Milner has put Arsenal and Liverpool on alert by refusing to sign a new contract with Premier League champions Manchester City.
The England international has offers on the table from both the English giants as he ponders his next move. Milner’s contract with City runs out at the end of the season and while he has been in discussions with City about a renewal, he is also considering other offers that are on the table.
Arsene Wenger is a keen admirer of the England utility man who can play across the midfield as he looks for another midfield option to add to his squad while Liverpool look at him as a replacement for former England captain Steven Gerrard who is set to leave the club at the end of the season.
According to titanbet, Milner has been offered a one-year extension by City, but according to sources close to the player, the former Aston Villa man wants a new four year deal to stay at the Etihad Stadium beyond the current season.
Arsenal are willing to offer him a long term contract that will see him earn the same money he earns at City now and a guaranteed place in the starting eleven with Arsene Wenger looking for a fresh pair of legs to replace the ageing Mikel Arteta at the centre of midfield.
The Gunners have a lot of options in midfield but not one of those options are defensive in their play and adding Milner to the squad will increase the strength in dept of the club, something Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been looking to do for quite some time.
But the player hasn’t completely ruled out a renewal with City with Manuel Pellegrini keen for him to sign a new contract and stay at the club as well.
