Theo Walcott is reportedly not ready to seek an exit from Arsenal despite the last few months being extremely poor to him on all fronts.
After being promised by manager Arsenal Wenger that he would be utilised as a striker, Walcott went on to sign a new five-year contract with Arsenal a few years ago. However, those promises have not been fulfilled and it has resulted in Walcott being increasingly marginalised both at Arsenal and with the England national team. After being one of the headlines during the World Cup 2006, Walcott has just gone to being omitted from the Euro 2016 squad.
The 26-year-old not even make it to the preliminary squad and it shows a lot of both the faith England boss Roy Hodgson has in his abilities. Walcott may be a fine footballer, but his lack of game time is starting to hurt his opportunities at club and international level. The position could only get worse if Arsenal go ahead with their interest to sign Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy. The club have reportedly made a £ 20 million offer for the England international, who has just finished the 2015-16 season as the top scorer. The £ 20 million will be enough to activate a release clause in his contract.
Vardy is already made aware of theinterest from Arsenal and he is expected to seal the move to the gunners. However, sources indicate that Walcott is unfazed by the current situation since he believes that he can become a key member of the Arsenal team once again. Time, though, could be running out for the former Southampton winger. In the next few years, Walcott will soon be touching 30s and he may not be able to secure a move to a top club. Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Walcott in the summer.
